“Bacchanalian Rehearsal of 01272018” is an outgrowth of the site-specific installation Domus Reverse
realised by Allocca, Ferrara and Pateris in October 2017 in the archaeological excavations of the Roman Villa in Somma Vesuviana.
Antonio Angri’s photographic documentation is combined with reworkings of the metal, electronic and vocal parts
always against the dichotomous vision between Apollonian and Dionysian operated by Nietzsche in his early work: The Birth of Tragedy.
For this purpose Nietzsche had to hide the erotic-satirical side of Socrates,
in order to condemn him and the circle of Periclean aesthetics as prodromes of the end of the Dionysian element
element of archaic culture that would come with the Christian church.
Among the actions of these ‘bacchanalia trials’ is the unveiling of Socratic eroticism
and the presentation of the Dionysian elements present in various forms of contemporary culture
such as the Satrian carnival or fragments of Aschenbach’s dream.
